Overview
USF
is home to the largest urban College of Education in the country and
graduates more first-year teachers than any other Florida university.
The mission of the college is to improve the preparation of teachers,
other professional educators, and professional support personnel and
to discover improved teaching, learning and leadership techniques through
research and practice. The College of Education is known for its innovative,
enthusiastic approaches to today's challenges in the field of education.
Because of these quality programs, its graduates are in demand.
Degree Program
The
USF Lakeland campus offers the Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education.
The undergraduate program is a FULL-TIME PROGRAM beginning each fall
term. It is designed for those wishing to obtain the skills and certification
to teach Elementary Education Grades K-6 in Florida schools. This program
also includes an ESOL endorsement. The program is structured to form
teams of students (clusters) who will continue to support one another
as they progress through the degree program. Studies include both coursework
and extensive field experience in elementary school settings to enable
students to integrate theory with teaching practice. Students in the
Elementary Education cluster are able to complete the entire program
in as few as five semesters-all on the Lakeland campus. This program
is offered on a yearly rotation, with openings every fall semester.
Admissions Criteria
The
College of Education is an upper-level limited access college. In addition
