Homecoming Results from USF
Lakeland
LAKELAND,
FL (December 2, 2002) - The
USF Lakeland campus began building campus traditions recently during the
University of South Florida’s Homecoming celebrations. For the first
time in USF history, the USF Lakeland campus selected two students to
represent their campus as Homecoming Royalty giving Lakeland a great deal
of visibility during the USF Homecoming ceremonies. Matt Huber and Anne
Carnley represented the local institution as Lord and Lady of the USF
Lakeland campus.
Huber, son of Gary Huber and Jennifer James, of Lakeland is a Junior majoring
in Business at the Lakeland campus. He currently serves as Vice-President
of the campus Student Government Association.
Carnley, daughter of Jim and Carol Peeples, wife of Daryl Carnley, of
LaBelle, FL, is a Senior at the Lakeland campus. An Elementary Education
major, Carnley serves as Director of Student Activities for the USF Lakeland
SGA.
Additionally, the Lakeland campus Student Government Association walked
away with the “Spirit Award” at the Bull’s Roast hosted
by the USF Alumni Association. The campus celebrated homecoming throughout
the week with a carnival, faculty/staff luncheon, decorating contest and
parade entries.
“It has been wonderful to see the students embrace the celebrations
of Homecoming and take pride in their college. They have shown a great
deal of enthusiasm for building tradition on our campus. We are going
to see a lot of exciting things in the future.”
The University of South Florida is ranked one of the top 100 Universities
in the nation. As a Doctoral/Research extensive institution, the highest
