LAKELAND,
FL (September 11, 2003) - Are
you a student in need of direction in life or are you stressed out about
school? Do you just need someone to talk to? The USF Lakeland campus
has someone available to help you through their new Counseling
Center. The Counseling Center has been established to promote individual
health and to help students resolve problems affecting their personal
lives as well as performance in school. The Center is open to all PCC
and USF students attending classes on the Lakeland campus, as well as
faculty and staff.
The professionally trained staff of the Counseling Center is available to assist in improving self-awareness, exploring personal concerns, improving learning skills, making lifestyle, academic and relationship decisions. There are no fees for services provided at the Counseling Center. Counseling is available for individuals, couples or groups by appointment or on a walk-in basis, for individuals whose concerns require immediate attention.
"We recognize the majority of our students are adults with careers
and family, who want to further their education as well," stated Susan Hurley, Specialist in Student Counseling for the Lakeland campus. "With all there is to manage, day to day stress and/or anxiety can become a problem. We hope, by establishing a counseling center on the Lakeland campus, we can help students, faculty and staff who may be struggling with issues about school, family, work or anything else that may hinder them."
