LAKELAND,
FL (November 20, 2003) - The
University of South Florida’s Lakeland campus is proud to announce
their first annual Fall commencement exercises for Tuesday, December
16, 2003, 7:00 p.m. in the Youkey Theatre of the Lakeland Center.
Over 80 students are expected to graduate from the local campus this
Fall.
The speaker for the inaugural Fall commencement exercises will be Congressman
Adam Putnam.
Polk County native, Congressman Adam Putnam represents the 12th District
of Florida. His legislative committee assignments for the 108th Congress
include the Agriculture, Budget, Government
Reform, and Joint
Economic Committees. Congressman Putnam is one of the few Members of Congress
to hold four committee assignments and is one of the youngest in the
history of the United States Congress. He also serves on the House Republican
Policy Committee and the Republican Steering Committee.
Individuals scheduled to receive special recognition during the ceremony
include the local campus’ first doctoral graduate Kate Blackburn,
USF Lakeland Fall 2003 Outstanding Senior Rebekah Pratt, and Fall 2003
Distinguished Citizen Award Recipient Daniel Stetson of Lakeland.
USF Lakeland administration, faculty and staff are excited to now provide
both a Fall and Spring Commencement ceremony for their students. This
is tangible evidence of the growth the campus has experienced in the
past three years.
