Lakeland's Safety Team is closely monitoring Hurricane Ivan and the
effects it may have on Polk and the surrounding counties.
The safety of our students, faculty and staff is always our
first priority. We understand many of you are anxious about the threat
of yet another storm, and we are working hard to make the best decisions
we can about appropriate actions to take in anticipation of Hurricane
Ivan.
We encourage you to review the attached "Hurricane
Preparedness/Personal Plan" (pdf) for a list of precautionary
measures. To assure you have access to emergency communications,
we ask all students, faculty and staff to check the following sites
for official USF news and updates. If you have no electricity, reports
will be broadcast on local radio stations including WUSF, WPCV or
WONN or you may use a land line phone to call in to our toll free
