Alice Murray To Lead USF
Lakeland's
Administrative and Academic Support Services
LAKELAND,
FL (February 16, 2004) - Dr.
Preston Mercer, CEO and Vice-President of USF Lakeland, announces Dr.
Alice Murray has agreed to serve as Associate Vice President of Administrative
and Academic Support Services, effective February 16 , 2004.
Dr. Murray
will oversee budgets, human resources and student services during a
time of rapid growth for our campus. The faculty has grown from six
to over thirty-five. Student numbers have nearly tripled, the budget
has tripled, funds have been secured for over 33,000 sq. ft of new classroom/laboratory/office
space and land has been acquired for an exciting new primary campus
site. This progress is the result of the extraordinary work done by
the faculty and staff, the legislative support of the Polk County Legislative
Delegation and the leadership of President Judy Genshaft in moving towards
more support of local community needs.
Dr. Murray brings to this position
the business and academic experience and the educational background
to help ensure USF Lakeland's orderly growth as we expand services to
Polk/Highland/Hardee counties and central Florida. Since 2000 Dr. Murray
has served USF Lakeland as Associate Vice President of Academic Affairs.
Before coming to Lakeland, she held positions as Assistant to the Vice
President of Student Services for USF, Coordinator of Administrative
Services and Business Manager at the University of Florida's Citrus
Research and Education Center and Director of Administration for KPMG
Peat Marwick. She holds an M.B.A. from the University of Tampa and an
Ed.D. from the University of Central Florida.
"Dr. Murray has done a
superb job helping us build a world-class educational experience for
USF Lakeland students, and with her help, we will continue to grow and
serve Polk/Highland/Hardee counties and central Florida," states Mercer.
