USF Lakeland to Showcase
Research and Scholarship on April 8
LAKELAND,
FL (April 4, 2005) - The
University of South Florida Lakeland will hold its first Scholarship
Day on Friday, April 8. Scholarship Day is an opportunity to discover
the depth of research and scholarship conducted by USF Lakeland
faculty and how their discoveries will impact lives and businesses.
Discover why research and scholarship are important, how research
and scholarship benefit our community and why a relationship among
USF Lakeland and the community is critical?
"USF Lakeland has an active, growing research program and Scholarship
Day gives us an opportunity to showcase what our faculty is doing
outside of the classroom," said Dr. Art Karshmer, USF Lakeland Department
Chair of Information Technology and Scholarship Day Committee Chair.
"There are a variety of presentations and there will be something
to appeal to everyone."
A total of 25 short reports in various disciplines are scheduled.
The featured presentations, each 15 minutes in length, will be in
the areas of Education, Business, Information Technology, Leadership,
Engineering, and Social Sciences.
All events will be held on the USF Lakeland campus and are free
and open to the public. Presentations will be presented continuously
from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
As part of Scholarship Day, USF Lakeland will provide attendees
with lunch as well as refreshments throughout the day. During the
lunch break, participants have the opportunity to visit specialized
poster sessions and meet many of the speakers to ask specific questions
and gather additional information.
Scholarship Day planners are extending an invitation to all Lakeland
area community members. The goal of the event is to showcase the
importance of research and scholarship to the community, the event
is scheduled to occur annually.
