National education consultant to address Polk County school administrators
Larry Bell
LAKELAND,
FL (July 20, 2007) - Larry Bell, a national education consultant known for his dramatic and motivational presentations, will be the featured speaker at the Quality School Leaders Symposia’s fourth annual Professional Development Conference, July 27, 2007, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at George Jenkins High School in Lakeland.
Bell will present “The Power of an Administrator” and “High Expectations: Closing the Achievement Gap” to more than 300 school administrators.
The Quality School Leaders Symposia addresses the need for qualified school administrators. The professional development collaboration joins the forces of Polk Businesses for WorldClass Education, Polk County Public Schools and University of South Florida Lakeland.
While national school reform legislation continues to raise performance standards for K-12 students, school populations have become increasingly diverse and complex in their range of educational needs. The onus of striking a balance between standards and needs rests squarely on the shoulders of the K-12 administrator, and requires that each administrator have a highly effective and eclectic set of leadership skills.
Larry Bell is a 25 year veteran in education who was nominated for the Agnes Mayer Outstanding Teacher Award. A Citadel graduate, he is now a full-time consultant who owns his own company and helps schools close the gap and ensure that all students are achieving. He is the author of “12 Powerful Words That Increase Test Scores and Help Close the Achievement Gap.”
For more information contact Dr. Paul Terry, USF Lakeland, (863) 667-7041, or Cheryl Joe, Polk County Public Schools, (863) 647-4275.
