USF Polytechnic, located in Lakeland at the heart of Florida's High Tech Corridor, is the state's only polytechnic campus. 12-02-2002 • Homecoming Results from USF Lakeland
The
USF Lakeland campus began building campus traditions recently during the
University of South Florida’s Homecoming celebrations. For the first
time in USF history, the USF Lakeland campus selected two students to
represent their campus as Homecoming Royalty giving Lakeland a great deal
of visibility during the USF Homecoming ceremonies.

11-21-2002 • USF Lakeland to Consider Land Proposals
The University of South Florida’s Lakeland campus announces that
it is prepared to receive proposals for charitable gifts of property
for a new primary, comprehensive campus site. Final approval for this
acceptance was provided by the University Board of Trustees during the
November 21st meeting on the Lakeland campus. Read

Employers today seek applicants who are problem solvers with strong
interpersonal skills. The difficulty is, many people are not trained
in how to effectively communicate with co-workers or how to solve problems
in the work force. USF Lakeland in now offering a course to remedy that

There will be an Open Engineering Advising session from 5:30pm to 7:30pm
in the USF Student Services Conference Room (room 2132) on Thursday
evening, November 14th. Engineering students and prospective engineering

10-16-2002 • USF Lakeland Unveils New Bachelor of Applied Science
Program
In the past, students wishing to pursue a Bachelor’s degree at
the University of South Florida’s Lakeland campus were required
to first attain their Associate of Arts (AA) degree at the Community
College level. Now, those students with the Associate of Science (AS)
degree have the option to pursue a Bachelor of Applied Science (BS in
AS) degree through the university. Read

A new program at the University of South Florida’s Lakeland campus
is proof-positive that learning is a life long process. The USF Lakeland
campus is offering a unique educational opportunity to area senior citizens
known as the Senior Scholars Program. Beginning with the first course
titled “Intro to Computers” offered in November, seniors
will have the opportunity to participate in a wide variety of learning

09-27-2002 • Enrollment Numbers
Rise Again at USF Lakeland!
As the Polk County area demands more opportunities
for higher education, the University of South Florida Lakeland campus
continues to meet the need. As a result, USF Lakeland has grown in leaps
and bounds. Over the summer, enrollment hit an all time high with a
29.4% increase in student credit hours on the local campus. Most recently,
the Fall 2002 student credit hours soared at 23.63%. Read
