Go to Work
Though
employees at most companies are often discouraged to bring their children
to work with them, USF Lakeland will open the doors to children of employees
on “Bring Your Kids to Work Day.” April 24th marks the date
for employees to bring in their sons, daughters, grand-children and other
special young people in their lives to learn more about the work force.
Several age-appropriate activities are being planned for participants. Read more

This
is to announce the Third Annual USF Lakeland Spring Commencement ceremony
to be held Monday, May 5, 2003 at 7:00 p.m. in the Youkey Theatre of
The Lakeland Center. Over 100 graduates will receive their degrees during
the ceremony. The event is free and the public is welcomed. Read

04-14-2003 • USF Lakeland Readies for Commencement
Spring
has come to Central Florida and that can only mean one thing for area
seniors: graduation is right around the corner. The University of South
Florida's Lakeland campus has planned Spring 2003 commencement exercises
for Monday, May 5, 2003, 7:00 p.m. Over 100 students are expected to
graduate from the local campus this Spring. This year's speaker will
be Lakeland native, Representative Dennis A. Ross.

The
final USF Lakeland Information Technology Colloquium for the 2002-2003
semester will be presented Wednesday, April 16, 2003, at 12:00 p.m. in
room 2125/2126 on the Lakeland Campus. Dr. Art Karshmer, Chair of the
USF Information Technology program will present, "Using the Computer

Session
To Be Held
There
will be an Open Engineering Advising session for Graduate students from
5:00pm to 7:30pm in the USF Student Services Conference Room (room 2132)
on Thursday evening, April 17th. Graduate Engineering students and prospective
graduate engineering students are welcome to drop by between 5:30 and
7:30pm for information on graduate programs at USF Lakeland.

04-02-2003 • USF Lakeland Campaign Receives Silver Addy Award
Passengers along Polk county's major thoroughfares may have noticed some new produce alongside the road lately. The produce in question may be found on the billboards featuring USF Lakeland's new "Stand Out" campaign featuring normally colored produce, such as eggs, tomatoes, peanuts and strawberries, with one blue piece of produce standing out among the others. The campaign urges prospective students to "Stand Out" from the crowd with a degree from USF Lakeland. . Read more
03-31-2003 • USF Lakeland Tours Final Proposed Campus Site
The
USF Lakeland tour of proposed campus sites is now complete. Today, members
of the USF Lakeland Land Acquisition Committee and other USF representatives
toured the final parcel of offered land for a new, comprehensive campus
site. The prospective land, offered by Williams Acquisition Holding Company,
Inc., is located just inside Lakeland off the I-4 East-bound corridor
at the eastern entrance of the Polk Parkway. Read

The
University of South Florida’s Lakeland campus and the University
of South Florida Foundation, recognizing the growing importance of charitable
gift support for the campus, have appointed Dr. Albert W. Sistrunk as

03-05-2003 • USF Lakeland Tours More Prospective Campus Sites
There
are two more green and gold USF signs along Polk County's roadways, staking
claim to offered land for a new, comprehensive USF Lakeland campus site.
Administrators, faculty and Land Acquisition Committee members from the
USF Lakeland campus toured two more prospective campus sites yesterday.
The sites, offered by Hacklake Forests of Ft. Meade and Old Florida Plantation
of Bartow, are two of the five prospective site offers received during
the campus' recent

Due
to the chance of rain Thursday and Friday, the Williams Company has requested
to re-schedule the USF Lakeland property site visit on Friday, February
28. Once a new date for this visit has been determined, a notice will

02-25-2003 • USF Lakeland Tours Proposed Campus Site
Passengers
on State Road 540 in Polk County between Highway 17 and the Polk Parkway
will notice new scenery along the road in the form of a USF sign. The
bright yellow sign, stating “Prospective Bulls Country,” and
featuring the USF Bulls logo will be spotted in four more locations in

Dr. Rosemarie Lamm, Assistant Professor, College of Arts and Sciences at USF Lakeland, has been elected as a Fellow of the Society for Applied Anthropology. The primary objective of the Society is the scientific investigation of "the principles controlling the relations of human beings to one another.and the wide application of those principles to practical problems."

The
University of South Florida's Lakeland campus will honor scholarship donors
and recipients during a special Gifts of the Heart reception on Thursday,
February 6, 2003. The reception, held at 4:30 p.m. on the campus will
recognize students receiving USF Lakeland based scholarships and the donors

01-24-2003 • USF Lakeland Spring Numbers Rise Again!
Keeping
with the trend of increasing enrollment at USF Lakeland, the Spring 2003
enrollment numbers are up 24.6% from last spring! Since 1999 the Lakeland
student headcount has risen 135% from more than 700 students in Fall of
1999 to over 1650 students enrolled in classes for the Spring 2003 semester.

this time of year, many organizations find ways to help those less fortunate

campus is assisting two local charities with their needs during the holiday

full of good cheer for subscribers to the “Meals on Wheels”
